Originally manufactured by Volkswagen for the West German Army, the Volkswagen Type 181 was manufactured from 1968 to 1983 but only sold in the United States for the 1973 and 1974 model year. Named the Thing in the United States, the vehicle became a cult classic and is today beginning to experience a tremendous rise in popularity as those who recall seeing the rare 4-door convertible while younger seek to add one to their collections.

This 1974 Thing presents largely original. The exterior is in Pumpkin Orange with new black vinyl convertible top and the vehicle has several custom touches throughout. With a Thing specific 1600cc dual port engine, 4-speed manual transmission and heavy-duty independent rear suspension, this Thing is a great car to drive on or off road. Because of their rarity, very few Things appear on the market, and even fewer in good condition. This Thing is a great opportunity to acquire a fun to drive and even more fun to own VW.

Unless stated otherwise, mileage shown on odometer is exempt and unknown if original.
